Besides helping implement the internals of the Warb game engine, I also took some time to work on art and ideas for demo games and other things.

Ideas for a Warb logo that eventually became our mascot, Warbie :)

Ideas for different velocity indicators.

Original idea for the mining drone command base, which turned into the harvester.

Harvester drone. The underside of the curve contains several lasers that would fire randomly, destroying nearby comet debris (and careless racers ;). Besides the harvester (and a cool ship I had no part in :), the screenshot includes the mining and security drones sketched below.

The mining drones had a simple behavior, swarming out of a harvester and collecting debris after it had been zapped (and, indeed, trying to collect passing racers :).

The idea for the security drone went through several revisions before we finally settled on a nice, streamlined design.

A nice, large start gate floating randomly in space :) Final animation of the gate opening turned out very nice.

Last but not least, the giant disintegrating comet: leading face melting in the heat of the distant sun, steaming fissures opening across its surface, debris breaking off . . . and a tunnel right through the middle, for some reason ;) It’s not obvious from a static screenshot, but flying around the comet in your little spaceship was rather fun :)
